In recent times, associations and families of people with autism and other Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) have expressed discomfort over the abundant and misuse of the term autism both in newspaper articles and in interventions in other media. This association of autism with negative connotations is due to myths and false information that still persist and that do so much harm to people with autism and their families.
