Abstract

The emergence of a new scientific field is often accompanied by an ecosystem that is recognisable in its fundamental aspects. One of the recurring facts is the gradual individualization of the matter in question, a process in which its specific characteristics are defined and the limits are set with respect to other objects of study in the vicinity. The creation, first, and proliferation after courses and seminars, conferences, academic exchanges, subjects, postgraduate courses, research, theses and theses also accompany the advances of the scientific field from birth to consolidation. The first babbles thus give way to firmer foundations and, along this route, two milestones emerge, sometimes simultaneous and sometimes more consecutive. The first milestone consists in the emergence and consensus of what knowledge and skills should be required of someone in order to be considered an expert in the brand-new field of study, and the other milestone is reached when a a group of these specialists join forces to create a scientific journal.
