Role and importance of physical activity sciences proffesional in the society during and later lockdown for COVID-19: a view of differents health professionals

Abstract

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared Covid-19 a pandemic. This new situation has caused the citizens around the world to be confined to their homes. In Spain, one of the countries hardest hit by the virus, its citizens have been held in their homes since March, 14, the date on which the state of alarm was declared. This confinement has led, among other things (social isolation, low exposure to sunlight, etc.), a drastic decrease of daily physical activity. Because lack of physical exercise or its poor performance worsens people´s general health, professionals in the activity and sport (PASSP) become important these days. The aim of the present study was to collect and know the opinions of different health professionals (doctors, podiatrist, physiotherapist, researchers, etc.) on the present and future importance of the professional in PASSP in society. To achieve the proposed objective, semi-structured interviews were conducted with health professionals (n = 33). The results showed that 72.7% of the sample considered that the professional in PASSP is little recognized by the authorities, 60.6% believed that they are not recognized by society. The main conclusions are that the inclusion of professionals in PASSP in public health should be considered, as well as the regulation of their profession to avoid work intrusion.

Javier Simón Grima, University of Zaragoza

I obtained a higher degree in Physical and Sports Activities Animation with distinction. I graduated in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences at the University of Zaragoza (Faculty of Huesca). Later, I went to Valencia to do the official master's degree in Physiology (University of Valencia, Faculty of Medicine), obtaining distinction in several subjects. After finishing this master's degree, I enrolled in the PhD program in Health Sciences and Sport at the University of Zaragoza, which I finished with a cum laude qualification. To date I have 6 scientific publications in high impact journals and a book chapter.

Camino López Pérez, University of Manresa

After 4 years of university degree and 1 year of internship as a podiatrist in operating room (Hospital Sant Joan de Deu) at the University of Manresa, I obtained my university degree in Podiatry (2015-2019). Immediately after finishing my university studies, I started working as a podiatrist at the Adrián Najarro Multidisciplinary Health Clinic (Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Training). At the same time, I started working as a podiatrist in nursing homes and in the Fundación Blanca de Navarra. During this stage, I have continued training and updating my knowledge with the Course in intra-articular and intralesional infiltrations in foot pathology (Complutense University of Madrid). Currently, I work in 3 multidisciplinary clinics, in which I perform biomechanical explorations, insoles with 3d scanner, chiropodies, infiltrations, papillomas, etc.
